Intraoral Cameras and Caries Detection

Intraoral cameras allow our doctors and professional staff to capture video of the inside of a patient’s mouth. The camera is attached to a pen-sized unit that transmits images of the mouth to a monitor. Our specialized software enables us to enlarge these images, freeze them, or view them in real time so that we can make accurate diagnoses and discover dental disease in its early stages. With images from intraoral cameras, we can create accurate documentation of the patient’s dental condition and obtain a quicker response from the patient’s insurer, who can see the evidence first-hand. The SoproLife Camera used in our office also allows us to detect early decay without the use of xrays by a process called “illuminofluorescence”.
